Cannonball

I was on dance team a long time ago, but it was an experience that completely changed my life.  Coach Smith is a woman that transformed who I am and I will always admire her.  She didn't only teach us how to be strong dancers; she taught us how to be strong people.  There's no way that I could have gotten through high school without her love and support.  Coach Smith is retiring this year and I feel so lucky to have been able to be a part of her team for six years.

Awhile ago, I wrote a blog about ten of my most perfect moments.  In that blog, I wrote about the last time I danced with my best friend, Laticia, and our other captain, Erica, during our "Captain's Dance" in May 2010.  After looking through five different hard drives (and almost destroying our desktop computer), I finally found it.

This dance is "Cannonball," choreographed by Carol Fipps and performed by Laticia Lies, Erica McKay and myself.  (It was edited together by my dad, because he's the best).  I'm pretty sure that we won a trophy for it when we competed in California my senior year of high school because I have a distinct memory of buckling the award into a seat belt so it didn't get ruined in case we got in an accident on our way to Cirque de Soleil (which was the best thing ever, by the way).

Anyway, here's a video of one of my favorite moments.
