Cities & Mountains

 I stopped writing blogs.

This isn’t because I hated it.  It’s just that I have been so ridiculously busy my last few weeks in Worcester.  We’ve traveled to numerous places and had finally had to actually start turning in portfolios for our classes.  On top of all that, Chels, Annie and I have been working on an Olympic graphic for the Chicago Tribune as well as soaking up our last few weeks with people that have become some of my closest friends.

So, I’m tired.  But, here is the really quick, really short version of the trips we’ve taken in the past few weeks.

Bath (Friday, July 13).
I’m sick.  Wake up with nose bleed.  Not fun.  Put on my new dress.  Too cold.  Put on my new sweater.  Too hot.  Go to gas station.  They don’t have fountain drinks.  Buy starbursts.  Eat breakfast.  Get another nose bleed.  Not fun.  Not happy.

Get to Bath.  It is pretty.  Go to Roman Baths.  They are old.  Drew buys Harry Potter in Latin.  He can’t speak Latin.  We all get our own earphones.  We listen to the tour.  I listen to the little kids version.  It’s way better.  I’m afraid Drew will fall in the Roman Baths.  He doesn’t.

I buy a candy cane.  I love candy canes.

Michael finds a man spraypainted silver.  The silver man is holding pigeons.  He is a pigeon man.  Michael gets to hold pigeons.  Drew gets to hold pigeons.  It’s pretty neat.  We make them go wash their hands.

We get free ice cream off the street.  It’s delicious.

Sam and I eat the best baguettes.  We love them.

We walk on the bridge.  It’s beautiful.  It overlooks gardens and water and it’s like a fairy-tale.

We go with Ryan to an old map shop.  The maps are beautiful.  I want one.  They are way, way out of my price range.  This is sad.

Drew makes us go to a sports shop.  He really likes sports now.  I try on a hat; he accidentally hits me in the face.

I have to decide if I want to go on a walking tour of Bath or the Fashion Museum.  I chose the walking tour because I don’t want to get a bloody nose on old clothes.

This is a bad choice.  It is boring and raining really hard.  We sneak off from the group and go to a Disney store.  I want a princess notebook.  I am eating a candy cane.  I think I am five.

We go to a cathedral.  It is gorgeous.  I light a candle for Will Johnson.  I miss Sandpoint.  I cry.

We go to a pub.  I get tea.  It’s good.  We talk.  We are having fun.  We like Bath.

We go to tea again.  It’s good.  It’s also really fancy.  I’m confused about how to use silver wear.  I eat a lot of biscuits.

A Bob Dylan lookalike is playing Bob Dylan songs.  I love this.  It’s maybe my favorite part of the day.

We come home and go to Tramps.  I meet a guy that looks like my friend from home.  I am homesick, so we become friends.  He calls himself Adam.  His friends call him Booze.  This probably is not good.  Rachel, Mary and I decide to leave.  We walk home barefoot in the rain.  I love them.

Stratford (Wednesday, July 18).
The sandwiches are gross.  I’m glad I ate at Subway.

We go to Shakespeare’s house.  Pretty cool.  Pretty old.  Kind of creepy.   There’s actors there.  They scare Tommy.  She cries.

People want to go to Shakespeare’s grave.  I guess that this could be pretty cool.  I go.

It is not cool.  It is not cool at all.  It rains.  A lot.  I forgot my umbrella, so I have to share with Drew.  He hits me in the head with it.  A lot.  We walk through the mud.  My shoes are dirty.  Drew takes artsy pictures of swans.

We get to the cathedral.  You have to pay to see his grave.  I don’t want to pay.  I lay in a pew instead.  This day is not very fun.

We walk.  It gets sunny.  Anna and I sing songs.  This day is getting better.

We find a fountain filled with bubbles.  THE DAY GETS SO MUCH BETTER.  We play for a half hour.  It is fantastic.  I am a five year old.

We go to a milkshake store.  They have Cadbury Creme Egg Milkshakes.  Words cannot describe how delicious this is.  The day cannot get better.

The day gets better.  After Chelsea almost beat up some kids in the Christmas store for hating on Christmas, we find a magic museum.  We become certified wizards and Drew, Anna and I drink butterbeer.  It’s like we’re practically at Hogwarts.

We sit in an adorable coffee shop and then go to really good fish and chips.  In between these two activities, we get lost, Drew speaks in a faux English accent that he only does when trying to get directions and we all almost break Michael’s cool new toy.

We go to see The Twelvth Night.  It is awesome.  The stage is halfway in water and people jump out of it.  Sebastian is the best looking man anyone has ever seen.  Literally, gorgeous.  Every girl falls in love.  Dan also falls in love, but not with Sebastian.  He loves the girl sitting next to him.  They’re going to get married.

Friday, July 20.
Anna celebrates her first annual 21st.  We do this on a disco cruise.  We also graduate.  That’s neat.

Malvern Hills (Sunday, July 22).
We hiked a lot.  It was gorgeous.  I liked it.  I saw a cow.

Drew fell.
